Minyoung Park specializes in modern and contemporary British, American, and Anglophone literature. Her research focuses on the study of the novel and cultural criticism, particularly exploring the intersections of fashion, art, popular culture, and science with literature from the perspectives of modernism, postcolonialism, feminism, and affect theory. She previously covered fashion, art, and performing arts for The Korea Herald and is also interested in media studies including graphic novels and film, as well as digital humanities. Her Ph.D. thesis, titled “Tempting Bad Taste: An Ethical and Affective Approach to Unread the Failure of Art, Fashion, and Food in Late Modernist Novels,” examines the political, aesthetic, and ethical implications of art, fashion, and culinary taste in late modernist literature, focusing on the works of Virginia Woolf, Jean Rhys, and Mina Loy. Her recent publications include “Inappropriate Attire: Fashion, Nationality, and Shame in Quicksand and Pachinko” (CLC Web: Comparative Literature and Culture 26.2, 2024).
