전공 분야는 응용 언어학 및 영어 교육이며, 주요 연구 관심사는 교사 전문적 정체성, 학습자 정체성, 영어 글쓰기 교육이며, 특히 교사의 발화 정체성이 어떻게 표현 및 구현되는지 교수 실제를 살피는 것이다. 교사가 자신을 어떻게 인식하는지, 타인에 의해 어떻게 인식되는지, 이와 관련하여 긍정적인 교수 활동이 어떻게 전개되는지에 관심이 있다. “Exploring Identities of Second Language Writing teachers”로 박사학위를 받았다. 최근 논문으로 “Motivation and investment: Korean students’ language learning during early study abroad” (The Journal of Asia TEFL, 19(3), 2022), “Teaching practices in multilevel classrooms” (The New Studies of English Language & Literature, 81, 2022), “The understanding of L2 writing anxiety in graduate students and its research implications” (The New Studies of English Language & Literature, 75, 2020)이 있다.
