Kyungjin Jo specializes in late 20th-century US drama and musicals. Her research focuses on the representation and performance of Asia and US–Asia relations on the US stage. Her dissertation, titled “US Theatre and Cosmopolitics: Imperfect Imagining of US–Asia Relations on Stage since 1945,” explores US theatre’s attempts to perform cosmopolitics through its critical yet paradoxical reimagining of US–Asia relations, addressing topics such as war, post-war occupation, trade conflicts, and soft power competition.
