Eun-Jung Yoo’s major area of expertise is English syntax. Her research focuses on foundations of syntactic theory and a range of empirical phenomena, including fragments, parentheticals, wh-constructions such as interrogatives, pseudoclefts, transparent free relatives, and syntactic and semantic properties of scopal effects. Most of her current research is devoted to exploring non-derivational, construction-based approaches to empirical problems at the syntax-semantics interface. Her major works include “A Base-generated Approach to Why-Stripping in English” (2014), “A Base-generated Fragment Approach to Sluicing” (2013), and “Syntactic Variability in Predicate-As Parentheticals (2012).
