Heonjoo Sohn specializes in modern English novels and auto/biography. Her research interests include urban representation and culture in the early 20th century as well as Anglo-American modernism, with a particular interest in the writings of Virginia Woolf and Bloomsbury. She is also interested in the interaction between different genres of arts, such as literature, film, art, music, and ballet, and how they interacted with one another in the landscape of intellectual discourses of the times. She coauthored Genres in the English Novel (Shin-a Sa, 2020), Empire, the Mirror of Civilization (SNU Press, 2015), European Film and Literature (Yonsei UP, 2012), Virginia Woolf1~3 (Dong-in, 2010~2016) and others. Her publications include “Orlando, Virginia Woolf’s Russian Love Letter”(KJRLL, no. 32-1, 2020), “Virginia Woolf and Consumer culture in the 1920s”(The Journal of English Cultural Studies, no. 12-3, 2019), “Portrait and Biography: Virginia Woolf’s “New Biography” and Visual Art”(James Joyce Journal, no. 20-1, 2014).
