Joon-Soo Bong works on late nineteenth- and twentieth-century British and American literature and culture, especially the fin de siècle, modernism, modern(ist) poetry and poetics. His interest in the ontology of literature radiates in several directions, including textual criticism, (inter)textuality, theories of the lyric and interrelations between literature and music. He has translated Auden and is the author of articles, among others, on Eliot, Hulme, Coleridge, Wilde, Yeats, and Ransom. He has also compiled a comprehensive bibliography of Korean literature in English translation for Literature Translation Institute of Korea. He is currently in the middle of two projects on Eliot (The Waste Landand The Family Reunion). Running through his teaching inside and outside the classroom is a sense of responsibility to texts as well as delight in literary language and form.
